Keith Richards Exile on Main Street Rolling Stones Shirt Replica

Keith Richards Exile on Main Street Special Edition Long Sleeve T-Shirt Replica

So this old man's birthday is tomorrow and it's kind a late for this little extra gift, especially since it is on pre-order for a May 14, 2010 release. But I want one of these, Keith Richards Exile on Main Street Shirt Replica from the "as worn by" section of the new release Rolling Stones Stuff to promote the re-issue with bonus tracks of the classic album "Exile on Main Street". That's the shirt and on the left is a picture of our "Keef", included on the hang tag. It costs all of $60.00 !!!!! and you'd think for that price the boys in the corporate store would add a sizing chart since the shirt only comes in M and Large. Now, today's sizes M & L are a lot bigger than back in the day when I was a boy (and would given blood to have one of these). Still, go ahead and order it for me in a Large.

They've got all sorts of stuff on offer with this recent Limited Edition Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street re-release "promotion" if you check out the Rolling Stones Official Store mini website devoted exclusively to the album. There's more "as worn by" with the Mick Jagger "86" T-shirt, the Exile "Balls in Mouth" and some other iconic rock memorabilia - and of course back in the regular stones store there's about every variation of the famous "Rolling Stones Lapping Tongue Logo" designed by Andy Warhol than you can imagine.

I can wait on the premium re-release of the Exile record since it's $500 and according to the landing page you can have it for $500 in small medium or large (hee hee).

According to the Landing page over in the Stones Exile mini-store (that doesn't have it's own domain - you can find it via the banner at the top of the regular official stones store via Rollingstones.com ) This high end, exclusive box set includes:

  • • Deluxe edition CD of “Exile on Main St.” with 10 unreleased tracks
  • • “Exile on Main St.” double LP Record
  • • 24in x 18in frameable lithograph print of famous tour poster art; features plate stamp of band signatures; packaged in archive black sleeve with foil stamp of Licks symbol - exclusive to this edition
  • • The Rolling Stones - 1972 North American Tour Book by Bob Gruen;
  • • Recreation of the vintage early-Licks “72 Tour T-Shirt worn by Mick Jagger” - exclusive to this edition
  • • STP flight crew pin - exclusive to this edition
  • • 2 replica backstage passes
  • • 8 replica ticket stub set of various concerts on the tour
  • • 3 replicas of Mick, Keith, and Charlie's 1972 STP laminate badges with custom STP lanyard
  • • A replica '72 hotel room keychain from LA's Continental Hyatt House
  • Weight: 15 pounds Dimensions: 25in W x 6in H x 19in D
___

The album tribute promotional release comes in an "Stones Touring Party" STP Fan Pack as well for $125.00 (you can read the contents of that on their site). This time available in Medium Large and X-Large.
___

Juicy stuff, whichever one you choose, but for a bigger fan than me - a bit "steep" at that premium price, sorry, boys. In either case they could have included a paperback copy of "Up and Down with the Rolling Stones" (was that the same tour, or was that 76 - a better tour anyway. I forget ???) so that current/future Rock Stars could have something to compare their vanilla photocopies too. Historically, though that tour set the standard for "touring an album" on a bigger scope than anything that had gone before. That any of the lads had survived it was testament back then that "the strolling bones" (at least 3 of the same folks) would still be rocking a good 40 years later.

The deluxe version of the CD is a bit more affordable at $22.00 and comes with a CD of bonus unreleased tracks from the "Exile" sessions. (something to make a note of if you're looking for a little stocking stuffer for Christmas for me) The album was recorded, if legend is true, in the basement of Keith Richards House (at Redlands?) correct me if I'm wrong. Surprising, though, back in those wicked times, 1971, that Keith, or his then buddy and country picking guitar mentor, Gram Parsons (RIP), could find the basement.... !

Anyway, I've written about Rolling Stones Collectible Merchandise before if you're interested. Cos I'm interested in how folks repackage stuff, see also the Bob Dylan Hofner Harmonica. I was marveling at the AC/DC / Ironman 2 Soundtrack Merchandising Merger / truckloads of in the store the other day!

So for today, just the shirt please, thanks.

And maybe a decent new album sometime this decade, and a ticket to a few shows on the next tour.

By the way, here's a list of all available current Concert Tickets from my ticket store hotels near big ticket venues website... if you need em. Check out also my Hotels near Concert Tours page if you're traveling for music / events. I've just made complete dates / venues pages for the Imogen Heap North American Ellipse Tour and Sting US Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra 2010 Tour.

TAG Heuer Chronograph Automatic & new Pendulum Concept Watches

TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Chronograph Automatic & new Pendulum Concept Watch

Dear Family (specifically beloved daughter),

Been doing a bit of research ahead of my birthday next month (29th) and I've decided it's time daddy got a new watch. So if we really want to celebrate your college Graduation with some nice rebound gift, dear daughter, you might want to look up one of these little beauties for your dear old work horse dad. The TAG Heuer Chronograph Automatic. Yes, the brown one as pictured below.  It wasn't hard to find a distributor in the United States, I just looked on the TAG Heuer Official Website for the store locator. Going price $3,200 USD (use the blue card)

Tag Heuer Chronograph Automatic Watch Brown

But if you really want to please dear old dad this April, you might up the ante and bring home one of these new fangled watch technology things. The Tag Heuer Grand Carrera Pendulum. Doesn't use a spring or something, and it's a concept watch, so no idea where you can buy it or what the asking price is but, hey, what a suprized smile you'll bring to daddy's sagging jowels if you actually manage to pick one up in duty free store on the way back from spring break (I'm paying too much for) in Milan. Maybe call Tag in Switzerland, tell em your dad writes a very popular gift idea store blog and they'd to well to cough up one for a review. If you could pull that off, I'd really say the fruit didn't fall far from the tree! ... Just so you know what you're looking for in the store... here's a delicious picture....

See you Easter Sunday, remember to wear your nice clothes and take out that nose ring!

Ryobi Tek4 Digital Camera

Ryobi Tek4 4V 8MP Digital Camera

I was in one of those Home Warehouse Barns today, avoiding the work that needed to be done around the house, when I came across this  Ryobi Tek4 4V 8MP Digital Camera

Not only did it look cool enough, I thought, to be a fashion accessory, it also seemed to have the goods in terms of picture quality 8 mega pixels, battery life, using the TEK 4 rechargablbe battery and charger  (included, and rechargable up to 2000 times!), digital storage (boasts 800 high quality pictures, comes with 1MB SD, but upgradable to 4MB), size (it fit in my palm fine) and really durable feeing construction (rubber pads, clear switches, feels like a metal case, see product overview link below) and...big bonus... it's klutz proof being, obviously built sturdy like a power tool, it's impact proof, dust resistant, and water resistant. Water proof would be better since a klutz on land is a klutz on sea.

Buying into this line of proprietary technology gadgets seems a safer bet than going with AT&T just to use an iPhone (Have you seen the negative tweets about AT&T last few days? time for some heavy corporate brand maintenance) Besides the Tek4 series seems to have a bunch of related gadgets that share the fancy litheum ion battery

Now that's what I call urban macho chic!

While it came with a USB cable and could shoot video, no one at the store (not one "expert") could tell me if I could hook it up to my computer and use it as a fancy webcam (so I would have an excuse to look at it on my desk). If you know if this is possible let me know. Or better still if you're reading this Ryobi, send me a review sample and I'll hook it up and work it out myself. :)

Retail this little beauty comes in at $199. It should be much cheaper by Christmas - note to number 1 son - the ungrateful one.

PS: I'm about to start a series on this blog of Cool Travel Souvenirs of the World if you've got any ideas, pics, tips, links, please feel free to contact me via any contact email / social network

Godspeed on all your home improvements avoding shopping trips, Cvetko Ostroznik

Spring Gift Idea: Garden Clipper Ratchet Pruner

Spring Gift Idea: Garden Clipper Ratchet Pruner

I got back to my hotel after a very nice day of discovering New Orleans just in time to watch "The Fashion Show" on Bravo TV. Within minutes I was struck with the need to think and my thoughts gracefully miandered in 2 directions. Firstly I wondered if you could toast a bagle on the hotel room's coffee maker hot plate. Second, I wondered if spring had finally sprung in my garden back home.

Corona Clipper Ratchet PrunerIf it did then I was gonna have to do the cool new spring garden tools thing at the supply store and one of the gardening things I'd been promising myself all winter, apart from giving the slacker kid next door 10 bucks to clear my grass of doggy do,  was a couple of days in the warm sunshine clipping up the bushes and hedges around the house.

When you travel as much as I do, standing still is a dream!

A quick look online found me this gorgeous object, a Corona Garden Clipper Ratchet Pruner (pictured) , and for under $20.00 US! I found it at Ace Hardware online and they seemed to have loads of different ones. The perfect accessory for the Bionic Heavy Duty Garden Gloves I blogged about last July.

I'm not one for buying online because I like to touch feel and try things before I buy, but its a start. And if I find anything fancier or more appealing, I'll add a note to the blog.

But how's that for a spring gift surprise gift for the lazy ass in the family? Make em work earn the bigger gifts and get those sprouting bushes pruned at the same time. Or perhaps a little treat for the consciencious green thumb in you?  There can be no shame in a small gift that can deliver such therapy.

I can think of a few reality competition show contestants (and judges) that could do with some calming down.

Godspeed on all your travel and gardening adventures, Cvetko Ostroznik

  • Andy Warhol Exhibition T-Shirt Columbus Ohio

Andy Warhol Limited Edition Exhibition T-Shirt Wexler Center Columbus, OH

(UPDATE NOTE: Unfortunately, this item was only available during the exhibition and can no longer be purchased. It was a really cool T-shirt though - and a truly excellent exhibition.  )

Now here's a gift that it would be almost impossible for my kids to get me in time for Christmas Morning. Let's see if they can. There's an exhibition of Warhol stuff at the Wexler Center in Columbus OH. Oh, it's a fine exhibition and you can learn more about it (and view some video of the great installation) at the Wexler Center website below.
I had a fine time while I was there and checked out the store and in the store I saw these limited edition Andy Warhol Exhibition T-shirts and found out that you could only get them at the store, even though they're advertised in the online store. So I didn't buy one, not because I didn't want one, I really do, a blue one with the yellow Warhol on the front, like the girl in the picture, Size Large. Not because I didn't have the $20.00 to spare that the fine looking T-shirt cost, but because I thought that would make a fine stocking stuffing gift from one of my ungrateful bairnes. Unique and only available in one place in the world, that's the kind of stuff Dad likes... So, there's 10 days till Christmas and the exhibition continues until mid-March 2009 Let's see what the Munchkins can come up with when faced with this little challenge. I brought you up to be resourceful.   So let the games begin!

Hint, There's an email address on the T-Shirt Purchase Store page where you can check availability to save you the trip if they don't have on in stock in your size / color choice... maybe you can beg someone there to mail it to you, to give your dear old Dad the gift that will give him joy for many years, maybe tell them I even blogged about it.

Rear detail, Andy Warhol, Other Voices, Other Rooms Exhibition T-Shirt.  Available only at the http://www.wexarts.org/ Wexler Center, Columbus Ohio.

    Handy Links

Wexler Center for the Arts, Columbus Ohio - Check their online store for the T-shirt and other goodies for art lovers including a Made in Ohio Section. - Other Voices Other Rooms Andy Warhol Exhibition runs until 15 March 2009.

I'm a big fan of Andy, and I'll always take a moment to pass on a good word or two about the fabulous Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh Ohio. It really is a treat to visit for fans of Andy's work and in the history of an important half century in US Popular Culture.

If you're going to Columbus, to get one of these shirts, or anything else here you'll find Columbus Hotels or Hotels near Columbus Airport Ohio (Gahana, OH and other Airports in Ohio). or perhaps you might need some Columbus Sports & Concert Tickets.

And here's a picture / map of Columbus and the Wexler Center so you don't get lost. The Wexler Center is located at 1871 North High Street at the corner of 15th Avenue on the campus of The Ohio State University. Here's further directions from the website.

PS: Follow up note to kids: I ended up buying The Police Certifiable DVD CD thing I blogged about last. I couldn't wait, which was unfortunate, I've seen liver Pharohs in the Museum than this. There are parts where the music is nothing like what's happening on the screen! There was an awful lot of studio overdubbing on that "live" show and the thing jams on every DVD player in the house right in the middle of "When The world is Running Down". Oh, and your Mom got herself the Computer she needed, despite the best efforts of the Geek Squad Guy (Goon Squad?) to tell her it would fall to bits and she'd lose all her pictures and other important stuff if she didn't spent close to 100 bucks on some special magic thing the Geek Squad do for new computers.... and to top that she was told that the using the McAffee stuff she was used to was like "having a plumber do your electrical"... Times are tough, but we're not going close to a Best Buy ever again, I'll tell you the rest of the story when you come home for the holidays (with the T-shirt). It's was almost as bad as being bullied by the guy at Art Van that we couldn't buy the leather sofa unless we bought the $50 leather protection kit, which we still haven't used or even unpacked since we bought the sofa home.

Godspeed on all your impossible gift finding treks, Cvetko Ostroznik.

The Police Certifiable Live in Buenos Aires DVD CD

The police Live in Buenos Aires Argentina DVD / CD set

the police certifiable live dvd cd cover detail Now here's a gift idea the kids might throw in as a stocking stuffer if they actually go the route of getting me that Fender Classic Series 60s Jazz Bass I blogged about a few weeks ago. Daddy might need something to jam along with when he gets his new toy! I get to learn some of them Sting bass licks and make like a rock star.

As I expected, and it didn't take a brain surgeon, the concert perhaps popular music history event of 2008 was the reformation concert by The Police, was going to be immortalized on a CD. In this case live at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The other question, of course, has to be if PBS will bring out a companion gift Madison Square Garden live DVD, (I'm hoping - see a track from that show in the video below) which captured the last show of the tour with proceeds going to Public Television. You can see highlights of the encore of the show online here.

The main bundle for this release of The Police Certifiable comes with 2 CDs of the Concert, a DVD of the Concert and a DVD bonus documentary (50 minutes) about the historic tour, and more interestingly, I think, a bunch of pictures taken by Guitarist Andy Summers on the Tour. If you know about Andy's photography skills (up there with his guitar skills) you'll look forward to seeing how he documented the year from his unique perspective. The other set is a Blu-Ray DVD and CDs, or you can get the show on 3 Vinyl LPs (if you can still find something to play it on) with the chance to download the music for your MP3 player.

While usually I'm keen to get my hands on the most out there gimmick packaging (remember the Rolling Stones Shine a Light Thumb Drive thing) I'd be happy with the 2CD/2DVD thing, that also comes with a promotion chance to win a nice Fender Stratocaster Guitar and a shopping spree.  It's kind of like getting tickets to a concert, a flight to Argentina and a couple of nights in an Buenos Aires Argentina hotel, no?  And all for less than $25, and less than $20 if you buy it online at Best Buy, which has the exclusive. No brainer gift for this coming holiday season.

Godspeed on all your gift giving adventures, Cvetko Ostroznik

  • gift idea: wholesale candy display box

Gift Ideas: Wholesale candy display box - CHOCOLATE STOCKING STUFFERS that keep giving THAT AFTERNOON BUZZ.

    kit kat display box

Here's a stocking stuffer idea for that sweet tooth on your gift list. What about a display box of their favorite candy?

Didn't take more than a few minutes for me to find a bunch of websites selling 36 count boxes of every candy bar you can imagine and at under $30 for 36 bars you're making out like a bandit. I won't give you links to wholesale candy sellers online - throw a rock and you'll find one. Better still...

In your local supermarket when you find a discount special on candy deals, 3 for a dollar, for example, don't just grab a bar for your trip home, pick up an entire box and put it under the tree. Besides, how hard can it be to find out the favorite candy of your dearly "about to be gifted"?

If the kids are reading, and I know they are, I have to make life just a little more difficult. I'm a big fan of several candies that you can't just pick up off a shelf. Safe to say my taste goes international. So next time you're traveling and spending all my money stop and pick up some of the following: in this order of preference:

    • Coffee Crisp by Nestle (get them in Canada next time you go over the border drinking - or visit their official coffee crisp website) . Also available in Australia and other commonwealth places.
    • Kit Kat Triple Chocolate - a special edition released in 2004 by Hershey. Hey, this stuff keeps good about forever, they make it nuke proof. Look hard and you'll find it. This is what the Triple Chocolate wrapper looks like
    • Flake by Cadbury - a little addiction I picked up in England - Check out the Cadbury Flake Website and the latest Flake TV Commercial below.
    • And of course I have Doctor Who to thank - Tom Baker - for a craving for real Basset's Jelly Babies. (Can't find a website for them)

A store disply box of any of these or any of the thousands of candies available will keep the christmas buzz alive long after pine needles have fallen off the tree.

Did you know? Kit Kat was invented in around 1935, making it almost 75 years old. It was invented in the UK and first called "Chocolate Crisp". 2 years later it was renamed Kit Kat after a famous literary club in London.

The Internet is an amazing place. If you're having an eye candy kind of day, check out:

    • If you're going to stop overnight while you're getting some candy, find UK hotels UK Hotels and Hotels in Canada. Hey, I had to get a plug in somewhere! You know the hotel gift stores will have any one of the above lollies for sale (except the triple choc kit kats, which is why I put them at the top of the list). It's not the gift, it's the effort that counts!
